2025 Global Forum

2025 Global Forum

Re-imagining the Education of Humanity for the Third Millennium

February 13-15, 2025

Azim Premji University, Bangalore, Karnataka, India

The Forum is conceived as a global event of academic significance, collective intellectual sharing and professional strategic decision-making. The purpose of the Forum is to discuss education policy, educational aims, ideals and paradigms on the basis of the collectively developed Global Declaration “Educating Humanity for the Third Millennium” and to consolidate the work of international scholars across the world who are concerned about the current state of education, the trajectory it has taken; and feel strongly the necessity to counter the negative impacts of narrow minded and short-term approaches seen to have detrimental effects on human societies and the environment.

The World Forum aims to gain a collective and deeper understanding of ideas and formulations for the imminent globally relevant Declaration.

The program will include plenary sessions at which prominent scholars and theorists will deliver keynote addresses on each of the four themes of human nature, educational policy, democracy and pedagogy. There will also be workshops and small group discussions, moderated by leading experts on the proposed themes. The closing plenary session will consolidate the deliberations and will focus on the next steps to formulate ideas and develop proposals for action and implementation of the imminent Declaration on Education.

The range of participants will include philosophers, scholars, teachers, faculties, policy- makers of education, educational NGO’s members, representing diverse cultural regions from all inhabited continents.

Among the planned results of the Forum are the publication of Forum materials on the Internet and on paper; creation of horizontal academic and possible educational connections; the emergence of research groups for future research on Forum topics; development of a further strategy for disseminating the ideas of the declaration and educational practices that embody these ideas.
